New police chief named in Sugarcreek Twp.

The Sugarcreek Twp. Board of Trustees has picked a new police chief.

Michael A. Brown, former deputy chief in Riverside, will be sworn in as chief in Sugarcreek Twp. at 7 p.m., Tuesday at a trustees meeting.

Brown has almost 30 years of law enforcement experience, also including 26 years with the Dayton Police Department, where he retired as a major. Brown also holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Wright State University.

“Mr. Brown has demonstrated a desire to nurture established police and community partnerships and understands the importance of community policing initiatives and responsiveness to citizens, ” Sugarcreek Twp. officials said in a press release Friday. “We look forward to his service as an integral part of our management team.”

Brown replaces James Deaton.
