Police: $500 in cigarettes stolen in 3 minutes

Police are looking for a man who used two by fours to build a ladder to reach the roof of the West Side Supermarket, where he stole cigarettes and cash.

An alarm alerted authorities at 4:39 a.m. Friday that there was motion in the office inside the grocery store at 2813 Germantown St, according to the Dayton police report.

Officers discovered a hole in the roof above the office where the suspect gained entry, according to the report.

Dressed all in black, the suspect was captured on surveillance video filling a bag full of various brands of cigarettes and taking about $20 in cash and change, according to the report.

Police said the suspect was in and out of the store in three minutes, taking about $500 worth of cigarettes.
