DAYTON —

One person was shot in the arm Monday night and police said the shooter was driving a dark-colored sport utility vehicle.

Dayton police responded at approximately 9:45 p.m. to 40 Rockwood Ave.

The victim, identified as Norman Hart, 53, suffered a gunshot wound to the right forearm and was taken by life squad to Miami Valley Hospital, police said.

The victim was in stable condition, said Dayton Sgt. Jon Zimmerman.

Zimmerman said the victim walked outside to look for his dog, which had gotten out of its enclosure.

The victim then noticed a dark-colored SUV, possibly a Land Rover, parked nearby. Zimmerman said the victim talked to the driver and approached the vehicle, at which time the driver shot him in the arm.

Officers were unable to locate the vehicle or the suspect.
