Police nab 2 men accused of taking $600 in tools from Sears

FRANKLIN —

Two men were taken into custody by Franklin police Sunday afternoon following a pursuit after a theft from a Middletown store.

Middletown police began looking for suspects about 1:45 p.m. after it was discovered the pair allegedly removed two tool sets valued at $299 each from Sears at the Towne Mall, according to officials.

Middletown police officer Tom Lawson spotted the white SUV believed to be driven by the suspects in the area of Dixie Highway, said Middletown police Sgt. Ed Sensel. The vehicle was speeding toward Franklin.

Franklin officers attempted to stop the SUV as it came into the city on Main Street, but the driver refused. A short pursuit ended in the parking lot of the Amvets Post 120 near the intersection of Main and Sixth streets. The two men inside the vehicle were taken into custody at gunpoint, said Franklin Officer Steve Dunham.

Timothy Lazier, 33, of Franklin, the driver of the SUV, was charged with obstruction of official business by Franklin police and taken to the Warren County Jail in Lebanon.

Roy Dawson Jr., 33, of Middletown, is charged with two counts of felony theft and was transported to the Middletown Jail.

Sensel said the pair could face additional charges.
