DAYTON —

A 27-year-old man wanted in an aggravated robbery was unsuccessful in getting away after officers spotted him Wednesday morning.

The streets were still snow covered when James L. Dyer III fled from Dayton police while driving his girlfriend’s black 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo in the 4500 block of West Hillcrest Avenue, according to the Dayton police report.

The Monte Carlo slid around several turns, knocking over the stop sign at Peach Tree Avenue and Kings Highway, before crashing and getting stuck at Blueberry and Hickorydale avenues, according to the report.

Police said Dyer ran from the crash and officers pursued on foot with a K9 unit. Dyer was located a short distance away hiding in some bushes, according to the report.

In addition to failure to comply with a police officer’s order, Dyer was arrested on an active warrant for aggravated robbery, according to the report.

He is being held in the Montgomery County Jail and is expected to appear in court next Thursday.
