SPRINGFIELD —

The Ohio Republican presidential campaign office has set a “Road to Victory” concert and rally on Thursday in Springfield that will feature a Republican U.S. senator, a country music star and NFL Hall of Fame inductee.

Rodney Atkins will headline the free concert at the Clark County Fairgrounds along with Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, and NFL Hall of Famer Anthony Munoz in support of Mitt Romney’s run for the presidency.

State campaign secretary Chris Maloney could not be immediately reached for more information.

“Anything we can do to help the cause to keep the enthusiasm up and push Romney/Ryan is a good thing,” Clark County Republican Party Chair Lynda Smith said. “I think it’s always good to have Rob Portman and Anthony Munoz — everybody likes him — in town.”

Clark County Democratic Party Chair Ron Rhine responded: “I’m sure there will be politicking, exaggerating and lying. I think the president’s record speaks for itself. He inherited a mess and two wars and the economy was in terrible shape. I don’t care who would have been elected, there’s no way any individual could have turned around the mess he inherited in ‘08.”

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with the concert at 7:30 p.m. at the Champions Center Expo, 4122 Laybourne Road. Tickets are available online at http://roadtovictoryconcert.eventbrite.com and are free.
