KETTERING —

The body of the missing Kettering woman, whose car was found submerged in a retention pond Saturday evening, was found Tuesday morning.

Police said Margaret Spilker, 87, of Stoneybrook Drive, was found in a creek in the 4500 block of Timberwilde Drive. Police said they believe Spilker was somehow able to get out of her car, which was pulled from the pond in the 4700 block of Hempstead Station Road.

Her body then traveled through a drainage pipe leading from the pond. Her body was located by two Kettering detectives shortly before 9 a.m. about two miles from the pond.

Police said there are still questions about how her car ended up in the pond.

Monday, police drained the body of water as part of their search for Spilker. Crews worked overnight Sunday into Monday afternoon pumping out the pond, which was approximately 8 feet deep.

By Tuesday morning, the pond had several feet of water back in it.

Spilker's 2011 Chevrolet Cruze was pulled out of the pond after police discovered it Saturday night. Officers had been dispatched at about 9:30 p.m. on reports that a vehicle was submerged there.

Spilker was last seen at 2 p.m. Saturday and was headed to Kroger on East Stroop Road, according to police.

Foul play is not suspected in her death.
