CADIZ, Ohio — The Clark Gable Foundation in the actor's Ohio hometown is launching a fundraising effort for a life-size bronze sculpture of the "Gone With the Wind" star sitting on a bench.

The group on Monday announced it had launched the Clark Gable Legacy campaign on Kickstarter.com in an effort to raise $80,000 to have the sculpture installed in Cadiz, the site of the foundation and Gable's birthplace home, now a museum.

Sculptor Lou Cella of The Rotblatt/Amrany Fine Art Studio in Highwood, Ill., has been tapped to craft the piece. He says it will give visitors a place to sit and "have their picture taken next to Clark."

The effort runs through March 31. If the group's goal is not met by the deadline, donations return to their contributors.
