CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Museum of Art is picking up the pace on exhibitions as it prepares to unveil parts of the $350 million expansion scheduled to be completed next year.

The Plain Dealer (http://bit.ly/zMhd7s ) reports the museum is planning a busier schedule with 16 exhibitions over the next 22 months. That doesn't count the ongoing exhibition that includes paintings by Rembrandt.

The schedule includes some milestones of the eight-year renovation project. The atrium of the expanded complex will open in the fall, followed by a new educational gallery and permanent collection galleries focused on Renaissance art.

The facility also is dealing with an unexpected problem. Its contemporary galleries will close in March for six months to fix an insulation issue that caused condensation to leak into window frames in art-conservation spaces.
