COLUMBUS, Ohio — The son of an Ohio auto dealer says his parents have purchased the suburban Columbus home of former Ohio state coach Jim Tressel.

The Columbus Dispatch reports (http://bit.ly/ySgu1U) Jeff Layman says his father, Bobby Layman, and mother bought the Upper Arlington home. He tells the newspaper Tuesday that, "the deal is closed" and his parents plan to move in after the Tressels move out.

The couple live nearby in the same city.

The Franklin County auditor's website shows the Tressels bought the 7,781-square-foot home in 2003 for about $1.4 million.

Tressel was forced to resign last year for not telling his superiors about reports that several of his players had violated NCAA rules by selling game memorabilia.

He's now a consultant on the staff of the Indianapolis Colts.
