CINCINNATI — A major beauty products maker and a company that makes environmentally sensitive adhesives and other materials are both expanding their southwest Ohio bases.

Republican Gov. John Kasich took part in separate announcements Tuesday that will mean nearly 100 new jobs in Ohio and millions in investments. He touted the planned expansions — backed by state tax incentives — as the latest signs that the state is on an economic rebound.

"You can see Ohio is really beginning to percolate," Kasich said in a news conference at the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber.

Kao USA plans to add 50 jobs in Cincinnati while investing some $21 million in a new headquarters office and in research, development and manufacturing in the city. Kao USA is a unit of Tokyo-based Kao Corp., making such brands as Jergens and Curel lotions and Ban deodorants.

Meanwhile, Bioformix in Loveland will add at least 43 jobs as it consolidates operations. The company makes and distributes adhesives, coatings and sealants.

Kasich says Ohio has become one of the nation's leading job creators, and he is promoting aggressive efforts to lure new businesses and keep existing ones in the state.

"Now we have a game plan," he said.
