Oxford rape case: What we know now about 3 suspects

Three men have been charged with dozens of crimes for an alleged February sexual assault in Oxford.

The men appeared in court Monday for a hearing. Here’s what we know about the three suspects:

1. Jail calls allegedly recorded plans to make contact with victim

Bond was set at $250,000 in July for Elijah Lee Mincy, 21, of North Campus Avenue, Oxford.

Assistant Prosecutor Kelly Heile said the current bond was appropriate given the severity of the charges. Heile also said Mincy made phone calls from the Butler County Jail to others in which they had discussions about contacting the victim.

Mincy is charged with 23 felony crimes, including three counts of rape, complicity to rape, sexual battery, kidnapping and complicity to rape.

2. Second suspect seeking lower bond

Attorneys for Rodney Adrian Louis Gibson II, 21, of Cincinnati, have filed a motion to have his bond lowered.

Gibson is charged with 26 crimes, including two counts of rape, sexual battery, kidnapping and complicity to rape. The judge also set bond Gibson’s at $250,000 and ordered that he be confided to electronic home monitoring if released.

3. Higher bond set for third suspect

Roger Richard Michael Simpson, 23, of Cincinnati, is charged with 23 felony crimes, including 10 counts of rape, sexual battery, complicity to rape and kidnapping.

His bond is set at $300,000.

According to Carole Johnson, a spokeswoman for the Miami University, Simpson, Mincy and Gibson are not currently Miami students.
