POLICE: Pit bull bites 8-year-old Dayton boy

DAYTON — An 8-year-old boy was bitten by a pit bull on Humphrey Avenue on Sunday, according to a city police report.

City officers were dispatched to Hearthstone Drive for an animal complaint.

A family member told police the boy was bitten in the upper right thigh around 2 p.m. on Sunday.

The child was treated at Dayton Children’s Hospital.

“The dog bite had been bandaged, but did not receive stitches at this time,” wrote Dayton Police Officer Rayan Nabel.

A family member reported the child was bitten by a brown and white pit bull in the 1700 block of Humphrey Avenue.

According to the incident report, officers contacted the homeowner Justin Turner where the dog lives. Turner told police the dog jumped through an open living room door.

The dog is about 10 years old and weighs about 80 pounds, according to the police report.

Police completed animal bite quarantine and Montgomery County bite record cards.
