UD police undergo active shooter training at Timothy’s bar near campus

University of Dayton Police and emergency medical crews prepared for worst case scenarios today in emergency situations.

UD police and UD EMS, which is made up of a team of studnets, underwent active shooter training at Timothy’s bar on Brown Street this afternoon. Members of UD EMS treated the students that played the role of injured students in the mock shooting.

UD Police Chief Rodney Chatman tweeted photos from the training session in and outside the Brown Street bar just a few blocks away from the main part of UD’s campus.

“Sad that we need to plan for this but awesome Rescue Task Force-active shooter in a nightclub training at Timothy’s,” Chatman posted on Twitter.

The training session was held just one day before more than 2,000 freshmen will arrive on campus.

The training was conducted at a bar in order to better simulate a possible real-world situation, Chatman said.
