RTA DRIVERS’ STRIKE: 3 things to know

1. No bus service despite transit app info

The transit app for the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority is still showing arrival times but there is no traditional bus service today because of the strike among RTA drivers and mechanics. The RTA Tweeted out a statement about the incorrect arrivals being displayed in the app.

“The union strike is in effect. Even though our Transit app is showing bus arrivals, there are NO traditional bus services today,” The RTA tweeted.

2. DPS working to find buses for high school students this afternoon

Dayton Public Schools officials said they will try to find a busing solution for high school students this afternoon. This morning though, high school students are on their own. The DPS transportation hotline was on a 49-minute wait for a response at 6:30 a.m. this morning

3. AAA warns of increased traffic on roads because of RTA strike

The stike will likely result in more cars being on the road, according to AAA. The auto agency encouraged drivers to plan ahead for their commutes Monday morning, said Cindy Antrican, AAA public affairs manager, in a written statement.

“Contingency commuting plans will be key for all those directly affected by the RTA strike,” she said. “Motorists should also be prepared for much heavier traffic in and around downtown Dayton.”
