About Morehead State: The Eagles’ victories are against Long Island University-Brooklyn, Alice Lloyd (Ky.), an NAIA school, Lafayette (Pa.) and Norfolk State. Their losses are to Maryland, Kentucky and Marshall. … They hung with Kentucky until midway through the second half before losing 81-70 on Nov. 21. Morehead had the lead with 13:28 left and was as close as 6 points with 6:35 to go. … Chavis played all 40 minutes and scored 19 points Monday in a 73-67 victory over Norfolk. … Morehead led Marshall early in the second half Wednesday, but was outscored 28-8 at the free-throw line and lost 70-67. … Sean Woods, who led Mississippi Valley State to the NCAA tournament last season, is in his first season as Morehead’s head coach. He played for Kentucky and hit the shot that would have sent the the Wildcats to the Final Four in 1992 if Duke’s Christian Laettner hadn’t hit his famous shot one play later.
