WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Junior Kelsey Vehr became the first Miami University women’s swimmer to earn All-America honors Friday, March 19, at the NCAA Championships.
Vehr finished seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1 minute, 0.6 seconds at Purdue University’s Boilermaker Aquatic Center. Arizona’s Ann Chandler won the race in an NCAA record time of 58.06.
The top eight finishers in each event earn All-America status.
Vehr, a graduate of St. Ursula High School in Cincinnati, advanced to the finals after swimming a personal-best time of 1.00.07 in Friday morning’s preliminaries. It was the fifth-fastest qualifying time.
Vehr will compete in the 200 breaststroke today.
