Demonz rally to beat Danville

Staff Report

DANVILLE, Ill. -- The Dayton Demonz completed a three-game Federal Hockey League sweep of the Danville Dashers with a 6-4 victory Saturday night, boosting their win total to 14 and strengthening their hold on first place.

In a game that included seven first-period penalties and one Demonz ejection, Dayton struck first with a Marcus Pryde goal only to see Danville account for the next two scores, both short-handed, to lead 2-1 at the first intermission.

The first of Luke Flicek’s two goals tied it midway through the second period and Nicholas Petriello’s tally with 29 seconds left gave the Demons the lead for good, 3-2.

Ahmed Mahfouz’s goal early in the third period increased Dayton’s lead to 4-2. Flicek’s second goal and an empty-netter from Lucas Schott kept the Dashers at bay.
