Staff reports

Lebanon High School pulled off the first major shocker of the boys basketball postseason on Saturday afternoon.

The No. 16 seeded Warriors (3-18) knocked off No. 3 Northmont, 81-77, in overtime to open the Division I sectionals at Trotwood-Madison High School.

Warriors freshman Alex Stotts hit three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, the last of which tied the score with three seconds left, ultimately sending the game to overtime.

In that period, Lebanon went 4-for-4 from the line to seal the win.

Junior forward Ben Esposito led Lebanon with 23 points. Stotts finished with 14 and four 3-pointers.

T-Bolts senior Devon Carter finished his career with a strong performance, scoring 25 points, including four treys.

Carroll 68, Valley View 58: The No. 6 Patriots opened the D-II sectionals with an impressive comeback win against No. 7 Valley View at Miamisburg.

Carroll came alive in the second half and was especially dominant in the fourth quarter.

Seniors D.J. McCommons and Luke Pelfrey fueled the turnaround, combining for 22 points after the half. McCommons finished with 21 points and Pelfrey had 17.

Valley View’s Zack Denny recorded a game-high 24 points, including six 3-pointers.

Up next for the Patriots will be No. 8 Alter on Wednesday.
