Andy Grudich recently resigned as Milton-Union High School’s boys basketball coach.

Milton athletic director Tom Koogler said Grudich will remain the Bulldogs’ girls soccer coach.

Bulldogs boys basketball has not fared well since moving into the Southwestern Buckeye League Buckeye Division. M-U was 5-16 this past season and 6-15 the prior season. In 2009-10, Milton was last in the Southwestern Division, where the Bulldogs were 3-18.

The deadline has passed for applying as Milton’s boys hoops coach.

CJ’s Switzer follows Brun: Chaminade Julienne rower Maggie Switzer has signed with Mercyhurst (Pa.) and is following in the wake of former CJ standout rower Bethany Brun.

Paced by Brun, more than a dozen Eagles have continued their passions in college since 2005. A 2007 CJ grad, Brun was an All-American for the NCAA Division II program and helped the Lakers win a national championship.

A four-year regular, Switzer participated in the 2011 U.S. Rowing Youth National Championships and was a two-year CJ co-captain.

“I’ve looked up to rowers who have earned scholarships and continued to be successful in college, and now I have a chance to do the same,” said Switzer.

Dayton Boat Club coaches Mike and Trish Miles also guide the CJ program.

On the run: Steve McPherson had an unusual triple at Beavercreek, excelling in cross country, wrestling and track. He earned 10 varsity letters. At Heidelberg this fall he’ll drop wrestling and run only. McPherson recently committed to the program at Tiffin. He’ll major in mathematics and minor in athletic training.

Former Beavercreek sprinter Wes Hendricks also runs at Heidelberg.

The next level: Wayne thrower Michaela Dramis has committed to run track and field at Ohio Northern. She is a senior at the Miami Valley Career Technology Center at Clayton.

Dramis also serves as an Ohio Health Occupations Students of America state officer (historian). She was part of a team that spoke to Ohio congressmen at Washington, D.C., during a national convention.

“The opportunity to serve Ohio HOSA as a state officer has meant the world to me,” she said.

Last chance: This is the final day to apply for the vacant boys varsity basketball coaching position at Tippecanoe. For more information, contact athletic director Matt Shomper.

The job opened when former coach Matt Pond resigned. He is expected to be named the new Covington boys coach.
