Last-second layup takes down Miamisburg

Wade Gelhaus scored on a layup with .9 seconds left to give Fort Recovery a 53-52 win over Miamisburg in boys basketball Saturday. The game was part of the Greater Western Ohio Conference Holiday Tournament at Trent Arena in Kettering.

Gelhaus finished with 15 points. Elijah Kahlig led Fort Recovery (8-1) with 25.

Jeremy Randolph led Miamisburg (6-3) with 15. Connor Brown scored 14.

The loss snapped a four-game Miamisburg winning streak.

Alter 81, Battery Creek (S.C.) 40: The game was part of the Bobcat Classic in Bluffton, S.C.

Jaaron Simmons was named tourney MVP with 33 points. He scored 98 points in three games. Teammate Michael Spencer was also named all-tournament.

Northmont 85, Vandalia 48: Northmont won its ninth in a row. The game was part of the GWOC Holiday Tournament.

Isaiah Williams scored 15 to lead Northmont. Keith Richardson scored 11 and had two 3-pointers. Dominique Stollings scored 10.

Jalen Paige led Vandalia with nine.

West Carrollton 60, Carroll 50: Connor Myslowski tied the West Carrollton (5-4) all-time 3-point scoring record with the 137th of his career. Myslowski led the Pirates with 25.

Diego Marzetti scored 15 points and had 11 rebounds.

Xander Smart led Carroll with 16. Brenten Dickerson scored 13.

CJ 57, Parkersburg (W. Va.) 38: Justin Clark led CJ (4-4) with 20. Austin Piatt scored nine and had three 3-pointers.

Stebbins 66, Oakwood 56: Stebbins (3-6) won its third of the year while Oakwood remained winless.

Malik Thurman scored 27 to lead Stebbins. Mike Collins scored 15, Trent Lucas 12.

Patrick Ireland led Oakwood with 22. Joey Murphy scored 11, Grant Pepper 10.

Versailles 54, Miami East 46: Versailles was the top-ranked Division III team in the DDN area rankings. Miami East was second. The game was part of the Versailles Holiday Tournament.

Sycamore 65, Fairmont 58: Sycamore led early with a 21-10 run in the first quarter.

Jacob Maloney led Fairmont with 19. Ben Van Oss scored 15. Aaron Abbott and Kei’Vante Tanner each scored 10. Tanner had eight rebounds.

Girls basketball

Fairborn 47, Olentangy 41: Alexis Gassion led Fairborn with 24. Kayla Patterson had 13.

Alter 73, Roger Bacon 20: Alter held Roger Bacon scoreless in the first quarter.

Fairmont 58, Winton Woods 41: Fairmont (10-0) remained undefeated. Kathryn Westbeld scored 13, Alona Skipper 10.

Bellbrook 63, St. Ursula 40: Erin Dorn led Bellbrook with 20. Gabrielle Etter scored 13.

Brookville 57, Milton-Union 32: Courtney Day led Brookville with 14 points, six rebounds. Sidney Cera had 11 points, five steals, four assists and four rebounds. Lydia Domsitz had four points, 16 rebounds.

Lebanon 46, Loveland 21: Gracen Howard led Lebanon with 11. Lynsee Spatz scored 10.
