Points rankings

Northmont: No. 14 in D-I, Region 4

Centerville: No. 2 in D-I, Region 4

Key players

Northmont: Sophomore QB Cameron Belton is on fire, leading the GWOC in passing yards (990), completions (84), attempts (140) and yards per game (165). Jeremy Campbell has four sacks.

Centerville: Senior QB Jon Overstreet makes up for the Elks’ lack of a passing game with a team-leading 647 yards rushing and seven TDs. Ifeadi Odenigbo, a junior DE, leads the conference in sacks with 5.5.

Overview

Centerville has delivered as advertised. Northmont coach Lance Schneider likens the Elks’ fearsome defensive front to defensive-minded Elks teams that he played against in the 1980s, and he’s not wrong. Everything was clicking in high gear for the Elks in last week’s waxing of neighboring rival Fairmont. Despite edging winless Beavercreek last week, the T-Bolts have finally showed some life after opening 1-2 with their toughest first three games in program history.
