Both of Zach Smith’s legs and Matt Ringle’s right one helped the Beavercreek football team open its season with a 24-21 road victory at Fairfield on Friday night.

Smith logged 11 of his 39 carries on Beavercreek’s final drive, which was capped by Ringle’s 24-yard field goal with 7.6 seconds remaining.

Smith, a senior, ran for a career-high 179 of the team’s school-record 383 rushing yards. Quarterback Justin Weaver added 13 carries for 149 yards as Beavercreek threw just one pass in the nonconference game.

West Carrollton 35, Stebbins 7: Randy Stites did it all for the Pirates, rushing for 111 yards and catching five passes for 116 yards and four touchdowns.

Tippecanoe 34, Graham 13: Cameron Johnson’s 24-yard touchdown run in the third quarter broke a 13-13 tie.

Eaton 51, Talawanda 14: Nate Clark rushed for three touchdowns on runs covering 3 (twice) and 57 yards for the Eagles.

Fenwick 53, Oakwood 12: The visiting Lumberjacks gained more than 400 yards but couldn’t stop the Falcons. Oakwood’s Max Banke threw for 187 yards and ran for 101, scoring on a 31-yard run.

Bethel 68, Northridge 22: Brent Rowley carried six times for 130 yards and three touchdowns — all in the first quarter. The Bees finished with 502 rushing yards.

Brookville 42, Tri-County North 7: Brookville’s Corbin Caudill scored on a 27-yard run after TCN fumbled the opening kickoff. Caudill later added a 37-yard TD run. Luke Landis and David Williams each had two TD runs.

Kenton 24, Coldwater 17: Maty Mauk scored on a 2-yard run with 3:07 to play to lift Kenton on the road. Mauk rushed for 141 yards and two TDs and completed 25-of-32 passes for 215 yards. Coldwater’s Austin Bruns threw for 254 yards and two TDs.

Kings 42, Lebanon 13: Luke Morgan threw a pair of long touchdown passes (29, 33 yards) in the second quarter for Lebanon and the Warriors trailed 14-13 when Kings’ Justin Crull returned an interception 50 yards for a score.

Tecumseh 45, Fairborn 32: Derek Riffell rushed for 213 yards and three TDs to lead Tecumseh. Fairborn’s, Kendrick Williams threw for 222 yards and two scores.

Waynesville 41, East Clinton 7: Luke Creditt passed for 132 yards and rushed for 128 as the Spartans rolled.

Piqua 29, Lima 7: Jon Dembski rushed for 222 yards and three touchdowns for Piqua.

St. Marys 41, Sidney 21: St. Marys D.J. Manning rushed for a school-record 366 yards on 32 carries, scoring four touchdowns.
