Reds Connection: Chapman adjusting to 'famous life' well

Q: Catcher Corky Miller has a minor-league contract, but like always, he is in the major-league camp at age 36, so what is his future? — Bill, Mesa, Ariz.

A: Corky is the team pet, always hanging around. But he is valuable in spring training, working with the young pitchers and catchers. His future is as a manager or coach. He has played professionally 16 years but has only four years of major-league experience. Is that perseverance or what?

Q: Do you think Todd Frazier playing in the NLDS last year against the Giants could have made a difference? I thought he had a quicker bat and was more agile in the field than Scott Rolen? — Jim, Springboro

A: That’s something we’ll never know and we’re crying over spilled Gatorade. It’s done and it’s over. Time to focus on 2013 and, for sure, it will be Todd Frazier at third base and not Scott Rolen.

Q: How has Aroldis Chapman adjusted to life away from home and Cuba to a life of fast cars and fast baseball? — Paul, Tempe, Ariz.

A: About as well as any young man who comes from poverty and suddenly has $30.5 million shoved into his pockets. He has had his problems with speed limits, but he seems to be adjusting to the Life of the Rich & Famous very well.
