Sweep underway for gas pump credit card skimmers ahead of holiday

Montgomery County Auditor Karl Keith said there were no credit card skimming devices found during a search of 50 gas stations today in Montgomery County.

Montgomery County Auditor Karl Keith has launched a "Skimmer Sweep" leading up to Labor Day Weekend.

Inspectors are checking gas pumps for credit card skimming devices to protect Labor Day weekend travelers.

Montgomery County Weights and Measures inspectors will check gas pumps for the devices, targeting gas stations near interstates, highways and other busy roads.

Englewood Police need help identifying skimming suspect

"In the past three weeks, there have been 10 skimmers reported in Ohio. So, today we are launching a sweep here in Montgomery County. We've done this before and we take this very seriously,” Keith said.

Over 30 gas pump skimmers have been found in Ohio since Jan. 1.
