UD’s take on tuition and fees featured in The Atlantic

The University of Dayton’s strategy for tuition and fees was recently featured in an article in The Atlantic magazine.

The Atlantic article focused on the increasing cost of higher education due to student fees and how UD has rolled its tuition and fees into one number as opposed to detailing them individually.

UD stopped charging separate fees in 2013 and pledged not to increase tuition for a student during his or her four years at the university. Students who are accepted receive a personalized letter detailing upfront the full cost to earn a degree.

The Dayton Daily News examined the university's changed tuition model that aimed to eliminate hidden fees so people were certain what a four-year degree would cost.

“We want families to understand exactly what they will be paying for, from day one through graduation,” said President Daniel J. Curran in in 2013.
