With more younger people calling the hotline, the board wanted to offer the most preferred communication mode for that population.

“We are really excited,” Darcy Lichnerowicz, the assessment director for Beckett Springs, said. “We are really hoping this will tap into a whole new group of people who maybe haven’t felt comfortable reaching out before and who now have a resource that’s a lot more accessible to folks, especially younger people.”
The crisis hotline number, 844-427-4747, accepts the texts and will also patch people into the Heroin Hopeline.
