DP&L transformer move Sunday could cause traffic delays

Rainy weather and flooded roadways delayed Dayton Power and Light from moving a substation transformer last week.

The utility said it now plans to move the transformer Sunday from Beavercreek to Sidney. The equipment is large and it could cause brief delays for some motorists.

The transformer will take up two lanes of traffic and will move slowly, so motorists traveling along North Fairfield Road, Interstate 675, Ohio 40, Ohio 235, Ohio 706 and Ferree Road may experience delays.

The move will begin at 7:30 a.m. in Beavercreek on Dayton-Xenia Road and should be completed by Sunday afternoon.

The transformer will be escorted by law enforcement vehicles and safety escort vehicles, DP&L said.
