A Trotwood man was taken into custody after a six-hour standoff with police early Monday morning.
Sgt. Brandon Holbrook told WHIO-TV that neighbors called 911 at about 10 p.m. Sunday to report a man standing in a driveway on Burman Avenue shooting off an unknown weapon.
Police and SWAT team members surrounded the house and used a bullhorn to attempt to communicate with the 30-year-old male inside. According to WHIO-TV, family members told police that he suffers from mental illness.
“We were unable to make contact with the resident by phone or by any type of communications,” Holbrook said.
Officers eventually used tear gas to force him out of the house and Holbrook said he came out peacefully.
He remains in the Montgomery County Jail pending a possible weapons charge.
