Warren County women home safe after cruise ship avoids Hurricane Irma

A local woman and her family traveling on the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Adventure of the Seas last week were able to escape the path of Hurricane Irma and return to Ohio safely.

Jenna Tardiff of Franklin was traveling with her mother, Linda Moore of Springboro, her aunt and her grandmother on a cruise that was forced to reroute due to the hurricane.

Royal Caribbean informed the group that their cruise trip would be altered to steer away from the path of Hurricane Irma.

Tardiff said the group was nervous about the weather conditions, and they were thankful to land safely back in Ohio.

“I felt extremely relieved. Since it was a girls trip, my husband was here in Ohio,” she said. “Until I was actually on the plane coming home to him, there was always the question about how easy getting home would be.”

Moore said the ship’s crew did a great job of monitoring the weather and staying ahead of the storm.

“They always had weather information updated for us as they were watching the storm closely,” she said. “The biggest concern for me personally was for the people stranded on the (Caribbean islands) because they were stationary and we were at least able to move around.”
