West Carrollton council considers 1st pay hike in more than 20 years

West Carrollton City Council is expected tonight to talk about increasing members’ compensation, which hasn’t changed in more than 20 years.

The mayor’s annual salary is $7,500 a year, while other members make $3,000 annually for the four-year terms, according to the city. The last increase came in 1994, West Carrollton Finance Director Tom Riley said.

Councilman Patrick Merris has proposed a “modest increase,” city records show. In recent years council had initial conversations about changing the pay, but members didn’t feel the time was right.

The issue is scheduled to be part of a work session set to following council’s 6:30 p.m. tonight meeting at the West Carrollton Civic Center, 300 E. Central Ave.
