SPEAK UP
Readers weigh in on Ted Strickland and Twin Valley; Rhine McLin and Barack Obama
Sunday, March 16, 2008
Gov. Ted Strickland said that closing Twin Valley Behavioral Healthcare was a hard decision. Now that he has the facts on the negative effects that closure would have on the Miami Valley and Ohio, he has a harder decision to make. How does he balance the budget without closing Twin Valley?
Before selecting Ted Strickland as a running mate, the Democratic presidential nominee should be aware of the anger in this community over his incompetent handling of the proposed Twin Valley closure.
Extras
Gov. Ted Strickland
may be listed as a Democrat, but his recent proposal to close Twin Valley shows he's a Republican at heart.
Rhine McLin is the mayor of Dayton. I applaud her decision to support Barack Obama, her constituents' choice. Superdelegates do not have the right to overturn the voters' choices in this "government of the people."
Mayor Rhine McLin shows more intelligence and integrity than our governor by supporting Sen. Barack Obama.
The March 12 Speak Up caller seems to have missed the point. Dayton Mayor Rhine McLin was elected by Dayton residents and will support Barack Obama because Dayton and Montgomery County residents voted for him — by quite a wide margin — on March 4.
