Bank fees also should be investigated
I applaud what Ohio government is trying to do to help people who find themselves in a temporary cash squeeze, but where can these people go for help if these places close down?

While they're at it, why not investigate banks that charge $30 or more for nonsufficient funds on each check? I know a person who had to pay $33 for a $4 check that bounced, another $33 for an $8 check that bounced, plus $6 per day until they got their account back to a positive amount. Can a bank prove it needs that large of a fee to justify that outrageous charge? I doubt it. I wonder if anyone has figured out the APR on that kind of fee.
By the way, the person I speak of stopped the $6-per-day fee by going to a payday loan place and depositing that money into her bank account to bring it to a positive balance. If these places are closed down, where would she go?
Maybe Gov. Ted Strickland will loan her the money.
