Get out on the water
Kayak basics class: 5:30 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Eastwood MetroPark Lake. Cost is $30. Equipment is included. Dress to get wet. Reserve a space: (937) 277-4374.
Urban Paddler Float Trip: Thursday, Aug. 21. Start at Whitewater Warehouse, 104 Valley St., and float to RiverScape in downtown Dayton to view the laser show. Paddlers will launch between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m., and the show starts about 10 p.m. Bring your own boat, or rent equipment for $15. Shuttle from RiverScape back to Whitewater Warehouse will be provided. Call (937) 222-7020.
