Mike Peters
Open Mike

So you want Mike Peters' job, but you can't draw?

Today, you'll get your chance anyway. We're starting a new feature on Saturdays called "Open Mike." Mike draws the cartoon, but you get to complete it.

How it works

  • Write your suggested caption in the textbox below the cartoon and submit it.
  • Use your full name and your screen name. Only online entries will be accepted, and entrants must identify themselves completely to be eligible to win.
  • Enter as often as you like each week until Tuesday at noon, when we'll stop taking contest entries.
  • Come back! Dayton Daily News editors will select a group of finalists and you can cast your vote Tuesday afternoon through noon Thursday. Even if you can't come up with a clever idea, vote for your favorite reader-supplied caption.
  • We'll contact the winner, and he or she will receive Mike Peters' original cartoon.
  • Look for the winner in the print edition of the Dayton Daily News next Saturday, as well as another opportunity to put words in someone's mouth.
