K-2 chimes in, favors Brady Quinn

Kellen Winslow, now with Tampa Bay, sounded off Thursday about the Browns’ quarterback situation on SIRIUS NFL and here’s how the conversation went:

Host Adam Schein: “Who is the better QB for the Browns this year? [Derek] Anderson or [Brady] Quinn?”

K-2: “I would say Brady Quinn. I love Derek Anderson. Great quarterback. It just didn’t work out. Brady Quinn is coming in, he has tremendous upside. Very calm, very mature and, I mean, give the guy a chance. What’s the big deal? I really don’t get it. This guy is coming in, he has worked his tail off. I bet you he is there working out right now. Just give him a chance. He is a leader, he is coming into his own. I really don’t get what’s the hard decision up there. My choice would be Brady Quinn.”

K-2: “I don’t know if he is the better quarterback, I am just saying I think he is the guy for the future. That is all I am saying. Derek Anderson is a great quarterback. Don’t get me wrong. He’s a Pro Bowler. I just think the quarterback of the future is Brady Quinn. And he has tremendous upside and that’s just my personal opinion.”

Co-host Solomon Wilcots: “Do you think Braylon Edwards will be in Cleveland for 2009?”

K-2: “For some reason I don’t. I know Braylon would love to go to New York. The Giants would fit him to a “T” and he would have so much fun up there. I know he loves Cleveland but New York would be a great fit for him. He’s a city guy and, yeah, I know he would love it there.”

A city guy, Kellen? What is Cleveland, a hamlet? Funniest line was when K-2 said Braylon loves Cleveland. Laughed out loud at that one.

Good for Kellen Winslow! Good for the Browns also. Kellen was pretty much a distraction. As for Braylon..you can take those greasy hands to NY all you want..Browns can do without your butter fingers.

We cant get rid of Braylon. JJ is gone Donte is in Jail. Besides Cribbs we have no other recievers and we need Cribbs to play offense defense and all special teams while coaching!

The Browns are once again rebuilding, since they are determined togo with a older more experienced team, I (me) have no problems losing Braylon, even though 1 good year did appear.. The browns would have to fill that void with another first round pick to compliment patten, and cribs.. Since we have already headed down that new regime road, we migfht as well continue down that road.. I do not think Braylon gives us his full 100 %, and right now that is exactly what we need, no show boats just (men)thatwant win and bust there butts toget there… We should have known about Stallworth, he hasn’t produced since New Orleans, just another overpaid DIVA in the Browns Organization!!

If they don’t trade him now, Edwards is gone next year as a free agent. So, the Browns might as well get a few draft picks in return and use one of them to replace him. If not, he’ll hit the road next year and the Browns will get nothing.

Edwards to New York for their first round pick number 29. DA trade to Vikings for their 54th pick in this year’second round. Orakpo or Curry with the number 5 pick. Ray Maualuga with the New York’s 29th pick. Kenny Britt with the first pick in the second round. RB Shonn Green with the second pick in the second round. S Patrick Chung with the 54th pick from the Vikings. We need to hurry and sign Justin McCareins UFA, another veteren receiver for the short term. If all this happens as I predict, ManKok doesn’t screw this up with failed game planning and play calling, the Browns have another good draft in 2010 targeting a number one receiver, center and tight end, then the Browns will be a contender for the AFC North next year.

PS: If this goes down as I predict, the Browns will be able to now 1.) Pressure the QB, 2.) Stop the run with Maualuga and Chung, 3.)Create a physical presence in the secondary see Chung, 4.)Have big punishing back to spell and replace Lewis, and 5.) Have better production at receiver with Britt replacing Edwards.

Getting back to the original question - Who do you prefer at QB for the Browns? The one thing that most Browns fans know is that DA is not our guy! I can take him as backup, but would prefer to trade him, even though we may not get anything better than a 3rd rd pick! As it stands right now BQ is our guy although I’m ok with drafting a QB, but not if it means trading Quinn & leaving DA to battle with a rookie. DA does not have the total skillset nor the leadership abilities needed to take us to the next level!

no of you fools knows what you’re talking bout. Braylon is a playmaker. you don’t trade your playmaker. besides… the browns don’t have a QB like Payton, T. Brady, Big Ben, McNabb that need a playmaking WR in order to be sucessful. Quinn and DA does however. Braylon still has the potential to be one of the top 5 WR in the league, he only like 25 yrs old. Lighten up on the guy. If the Browns do trade him, (shakin head), the Cleveland Curse. You heard of it right? He’ll be one of the elite WR in the NFL, then you’ll look back and say, “man, we should’ve kept him.” Trade Braylon and see what happens, I guarantee it will come back to haunt us.

mj216 You don’t get it. Sure Braylon will probably do well if we trade him, and he will probably do well if we keep him this season. The real problem is that he will DEFINITELY be gone after this season. Also, the Browns are going to be in the pits this season, so it would just be better to get a high draft pick than to have Edwards stick around for one losing season and then disappear. THE ANSWER There is no way DA is worth a second round pick. We might be able to get a 3rd for him. It seems pretty obvious that no one (fans wise) wants DA, but we expect other teams to give us awesome draft picks for him.

If we want to talk about trades how about this. BQ,Braylon Edwards and a 2nd round pick for Anquan Boldin and Matt Leinart and a 6th round pick. You then trade DA with a 4th round pick to Carolina for Chris Gamble and Matt Moore(he is going to be really good, he was as a UFA and he is really young)and Jeff King Sounds good to me.

All you guys saying BE is gone after this year. Any of you heard of the franchise tag?

By Shawn K

April 10, 2009 11:06 PM | Link to this

A franchise tag does not mean the player will be here next year. That would just mean the team who wants him will have to pay an arm and a leg to get him.

Teams would def pay an arm and a leg to get him as well, look what the Vikings paid for Bernard Berrian. BE is way better than that and younger, so he will get top notch money.

I would have to say that the Browns will trade Braylon Edwards strictley for draft picks and fill the needs of other positions. The browns staff also need to start signing oter free agents and spending some cash. I know this sounds crazy, but if we trade Jamal Lewis you know we will get a firtst round draft pick round draft pick and get shonn Greene in the later rounds and have a one, two punch at running back with harrison aand Shonn Greene. Also drafting Michael Crabtree and Rey Maulaluga will be a draft to remember in which will affect us greatly in the long run

when will the browns realize that it starts and ends with defense!!! give me a coach and a GM with that in mind, and we can finally have a legitimate contender
