Chad speaks … if only briefly

‘I”M HAPPY’

We know that Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson lives, breathes, eats and drinks.

But we just discovered that he speaks!

Johnson said during the club’s open locker room period after Friday morning minicamp practice that he’d speak to reporters “off the record,” adding, “but there’s really nothing to say.”

Told that he seemed to be in a better mood Friday than he was Thursday, Johnson replied:

“I was in a good mood yesterday (Thursday). I’m happy. I don’t have anything to be mad about.”

Johnson’s body language was much improved on this day. He was the first player in line during wide receiver drills and caught a few passes before shutting things down for team drills. He even shared some laughs with teammates on the field and in the locker room.

A SPORTS ANIMAL

Johnson had a light-hearted, good-natured, on-field exchange with C. Trent Rosecrans, a reporter & blogger for WCKY-AM radio 1530 The Sports Animal.

After Rosecrans snapped a photo of Johnson, Chad pointed to him, then approached him on the sidelines, saying he wanted $20 from Rosecrans for the photo. In exchange for the 20 bucks, Chad said he’d give C. Trent a “one on one interview” after practice.

Like a good reporter, C. Trent didn’t pony up the cash … and Chad didn’t deliver the interview.

Chad is playing us all for jerks. Who needs him? Maybe he should be pumping gas, giving each customer $2 off per gallon.

If you are going to turn your first name into just an initial, then you don’t call out the initial. From the radio, I thought his name was “Seaturn” or something. Turns out it’s “Trent.”
