Bengals are slow, Rosenhaus relaxed
CLEVELAND FAST, CINCINNATI SLOW
Members of the national media were highly critical of the Cincinnati Bengals’ practice habits at minicamp on Thursday, June 12.
“I just came from Cleveland Browns minicamp,” one guy said. “The difference is night and day.”
He said the Browns practice at a much higher tempo than the tortoise-slow Bengals.
“But it’s only the first day (of Bengals’ minicamp), so I’ll cut ‘em some slack. Hopefully, they’ll pick it up.”
FAVORITE DAY ONE MEMORY
After an impromptu news conference near the Paul Brown Stadium entrance next to Central Avenue, agent Drew Rosenhaus retreated to a shade tree, where he sprawled on the green grass with his Blackberry and laptop computer.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR CHAD?
The Bengals want Chad Johnson to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his tender ankle.
Rosenhaus wants Johnson’s “injury” to heal on its own.
My feeling is Johnson will eventually have his ankle scoped at some point in the near future … so he can conveniently miss training camp.
CANTANKEROUS CANCER
Chadly used to be a cuddly narcissist. But everything changed when he dumped agent Jerome Stanley in favor of Rosenhaus in February 2005.
Now Chad is Terrell Owens.
WHO TAKES HIS PLACE?
If Johnson misses training camp, he should be relegated to second or third string.
Marcus Maxwell has been running with the first team in Johnson’s place, and deservedly so.
Maxwell doesn’t possess all of Johnson’s speed, but he’s a big, strong, athletic playmaker with excellent hands. And he’s DRIVEN to succeed.
LINE OF THE DAY
From NFL.com’s highly respected Thomas George on Chad Johnson: “He needs to get on board or get out of here.”

I am white and I have no problem with athletes of any color making what their profession will pay them, and I don’t think that this blog or the media in general have any type of motive that you are implying. He could be white and behave the same way and the feelings from media and fans would be the same. We all are judged by our actions. I thought that was the dream of Martin Luther King Jr.By Doug

Hey Doug, if what you say is right, how do you explain the love affair with ryan freel and Josh hamilton? Chad Johnson has never been arrested for DUI (like Freel). Chad Johnson has never been banned from his sport for smoking crack(like Josh hamilton). But Chad is a cancer and a disrupted influence to his teammates. Once again, Cincinnati has shown itself for what it really is. If perception is reality than Cincinnati is what everybody thought. Backwards, conservitive and racist.By Brian

If going a bit slower and emphasizing detail NOW means they can pick of the pace in training camp then who cares. The Browns can prance and bounce around like Richard Simmons, it doesn’t change the fact that their secondary will be their Achilles’ heel.By Amy

Maybe the reason the Browns have so many injuries this early is because the are working out to hard.By Amy

I didn’t know you had to say you are white or black, I didn’t know it was something that caused you to post a different way. But thank you for playing Chads race card, even Chad didn’t do that! Why was the refererence to Josh Hamilton and Ryan Freel relevant?GFM and Tony, get a life!!! Chad signed an agreement and isn’t sticking by it! No more, or no less than that. Now do you get it?—JimBy blackman

That is absolutely ridiculous. I am black and i dont think of it that way. There may be racism in cinci but chads incident has nothing to do with it. It is totally what he has created for himself with his Agent DREW. So i dont agree with GFM and TONY.By blackman
