Vain attempt to ‘Steel’ the show
INFLATABLE ‘STEELER’
FILLED WITH HOT AIR
Leave it to “STEELER NATION” to attempt to rain on the Cincinnati Bengals’ parade.
A Pittsburgh fan in a black truck — with an inflatable Steelers mascot ballooning into the sky from the truck bed — surfaced on the Georgetown, Ky., hillsides near both ends of Toyota Stadium stadium at different intervals during Friday night’s Intrasquad Scrimmage and Saturday afternoon’s Black-Orange Mock Game, laying on the truck horn in an attempt to interrupt the proceedings.
Yes, the constant sound of the truck horn was a distraction (minor, at best).
No, the constant sound of the truck horn did not deter the Bengals’ show from going on.
Personally, I thought it was hilarious, a funny form of levity … an outstanding joke … as awesome as Carson Palmer ripping Buckeyes fans.
I saw it more as a Steeler fan’s tickle to Bengals’ fans ribs.
But the Bengals fans I spoke with noticed the Darth-Vader-Mobile with the stupid Steeler mascot on board. And they didn’t like it much. They saw it as a knife to the kidney.
Bengals fans remember Kimo von Oelhoffen’s deliberate crushing of Palmer’s left knee in the January 2006 playoff game.
Bengals fans remember Bill Cowher’s “Who-Dey” chant at the Steelers’ Super Bowl championship parade.
Bengals fans have long memories.
Two observations in retrospect about the 2005 season:
No doubt in my mind, had Palmer not gotten injured, the Bengals would’ve beaten the Steelers in that AFC wild-card playoff game.
The Steelers won Super Bowl XL at Ford Field in Detroit, but upon close inspection, you’ll find that Lombardi Trophy is tarnished. Smudged.
So put a big ol’ asterisk (*) next to Steelers 21, Seahawks 10.
*Steelers 21, Seahawks 10.
- — Thanks, Kimo! Love, Steelers Nation.
Amen and hallelujah.

Explain to me why that fan was allowed to drive away in his Clampet-mobile and not leave on an ambulance stretcher…By Tony

Im a huge Bengals fan but I still believe ya gotta be an idiot to believe Van Olhoffen did that on purpose. Yes, I do believe the Bengals would have won that game if not for the injury but I just think it was an unfortunate accident.By Brian

Kimo “accidentally” took one (a cheap shot) for the team. Opportunity knocked, and Kimo made an unfortunate decision. And yes, Super Bowl XL was a tainted “victory” for the Steelers and I’ll never tire of reminding Steelers fans of that fact.By Mr. Nipsy

I thought it was funny. At the same time, people just take this stuff way too seriously. Evidenced by the fact someone commenting has already asked why the guy wasn’t hospitalized. Cmon.By David Jackson

Kimo gets my vote for the Hall of Shame. He is a dirty player and has lost all respect of football fans and players.By Bill

Here it’s 2008 and lowly Bengal fan is still holding onto that fluke season they had in 2005. Bengal fans hate the Steelers….Steeler fans hate the Browns. The Bengals are an afterthought.By TCAP
