Prediction: Henry will be gone soon

CHICKSTER’S CONVINCED

CHRIS HENRY’S RETURN

IS JUST A COURTESY

TO APPEASE MIKE BROWN

===LUDWIG AT LARGE would like to reassure fans who are outraged by the club’s re-signing of Chris Henry. Don’t worry. He’ll be gone soon.===

In the end, it was Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown’s decision.

And his alone.

It was nobody else’s call to bring Chris Henry back.

It’s just that head coach Marvin Lewis, like a good soldier, went along with Mike’s decision.

Marvin supported it, and so did Henry’s teammates.

After all, Mike signs the paychecks. As the owner, he can do — and does — what he damn well pleases.

Mike asked Marvin to take Henry back, and to see if Marvin can mold an immature young man into a NFL pass-receiving monster.

Folks, rest assured, it’s not going to happen.

LUDWIG AT LARGE doesn’t mind taking a stand and going out on a limb with this prediction.

Mark it down.

Chris Henry won’t play another down for the Cincinnati Bengals. Not this year. Not next year. Not ever.

He’s back in the NFL, with the Bengals, as a courtesy to Mike Brown, the franchise’s resident redeemer.

And that’s all it is — a courtesy.

Henry isn’t ready to practice or play.

He won’t be in uniform for Saturday’s home game against New Orleans.

He’ll be lucky to suit up for the preseason finale at Indianapolis.

Then his suspension begins.

He’ll be allowed to attend meetings and work out.

But he can’t practice with the team for four weeks.

If, by miracle, he gets reinstated to the 53-man roster — AND I’M CONVINCED HE WON’T — I look for him to get deactivated because he can’t play special teams.

I’m not drinkin’ Hate-orade here.

I’m sippin’ a nice cup of hot cocoa at midnight in the media room in the bowels of Paul Brown Stadium before I post this and head home, back to The Miamisburg War Room, where I hope to be awake in the early-morning hours to see my son off to Bishop Fenwick High School, home of the Fighting Falcons.

Now that’s reality …

… and the reality is that Chris Henry is about to disappear from The ‘Nati.

It’s just gonna take a little while.

Hey Chick,do you take into account the charges were dropped against him??If not for this incedent(that the court dropped),He was on the team anyway…Everyone needs to get off their high horse…

Charges were dropped on Henry,YET charges were there to be dropped. He is nothing but a sore on the NFL, All NFL players who cause trouble should be gone from being in the NFL..I know some NFL players, Philly/Oakland etc, they all sign a Be NIce statement, then go out and get into trouble. Gee how nice to throw or catch a ball for $$$, then go HEY I PLAY in the NFL WOrship Me! I say he willbe gone before he even plays one down..

Dropped charges or not, same would happen for any other NFL punk like him only because he’s a professional athlete. Doesn’t matter which sport — it just is — plain & simple. Yet had I pointed a gun @ a cop & all the other crap this friggin’ moron has done, my butt would still be in the pokey rotting away & you, Bill, would more than likely have another opinion as far as that’s concerned. Chick, I agree w/ you. The piece of garbarge that is CH won’t make it thru his suspension. Regardless, my days of giving even one ounce of support to the debacle & laughing stock of the NFL that is the Bungals is over. GO COLTS!

Mark it down here. Chris Henry will play this year for the Bengals and next year as well. And as soon as he scores a touchdown all of the media will love him just like they do with Chad again.

I AM VERY EXCITED THAT CHRIS HENRY IS BACK WITH THE BENGALS!!!! THE CHARGES WERE DROPPED!!! LET IT GO!!THERE’S A MURDERER THAT PLAYS FOR THE BALTIMORE RAVENS ( RAY LEWIS) AND I DON’T HEAR ANYBODY SCREAMING BECAUSE HE IS STILL PLAYING!!!! THE BENGALS AREN’T GOING TO DO ANYTHING THIS YEAR OR ANY OTHER YEAR UNTIL MIKE BROWN RETIRES OR JUST GOES AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Mike & #1 Fan… Ray Lewis was acquitted in a court of law. & oh by the way, have ya heard anything about him getting into any sort trouble w/ the law since? Don’t think so.

Article bookmarked. Can’t wait to pull this gem out to “Ludwig At Large” when Slim catches his first TD pass. If Marvin wants to keep his job he will play Henry because he is the only valid #3 WR. You think Maxwell, Chatman or Holt can carry that load? No way. And Simpson is a year or two away …

Hey Chick, I don’t believe Mike Brown would sign CH if he wasn’t going to stay on the team. Say good-bye to Maxwell, Chatman and Holt, although one of those three might make it by being strong on special teams. Hey Pete, “Ray Lewis was acquitted in a court of law,” so was Henry.

Chick I am with you I am upset with Mike’s decision. I have tried to support the Brown family but this decision stinks. The coach is toast and we are going to see the inmates run the asylum this year. I am very disappointed that we could not stand by our convictions. This kid has a nose for trouble. The bengals took a chance on Shirley, now he has a great mentor in the locker room. We should worry more about our line and less about our recievers. sheese

Yes The Village Idiot was not convivted this time, something that cannot be said for his other crimes. Ray Lewis has been in court once and aquitted and has had no issues since so the dynamic is different. Chick I can only hope you are right in your predication. Sadly in the near future when Jason Shirley goes on trial again Ground Hog Day starts all over again.

I’m with anti-Henry crowd. When a serial offender gets off on a few charges, we still reserve the right to distrust the guy. Chris Henry should have been avoiding trouble like the plague, yet there he was, hanging with the wrong crowd, flirting with danger. Those acquittals make very little difference in the grand scheme of things. Where’s the evidence that we can rely on him?

By John

Chick - you should have added the REASON that Henry will never play another down for the Bengals. The reason is this: by the time Week 5 rolls around and his suspension is over, Henry will have been arrested again, and thus released again from the Bungals. By the way, Marvin Lewis should resign rather than put up with Mike Brown’s pathetic stupidity.

By Mike-Cinci

Chris Henry will play for the Bengals until Mike Brown decides he won’t. Mike Brown is the Owner, President, and General Manager of this football team. In short he is the boss. The Bengals record is his responsibility. It is his show and it has been for the last 18 years.

This whole episode is not about chris henry, it’s about the team, mike brown and the coaching. Is the team sincere with it’s efforts to win? Are the coaches evaluating the talent here or is it mike brown? Is coach lewis a liar or is he merely a puppet? Is this team tying or are the players simply playing for money and not playing to win? This team is so out of norm that it’s ludicrous. If you can’t trust the coaching then who can you trust? How can they want for team leaders on offense and defense and have this happen. This organization is so inept and lacking integrity that all of the players need to refuse to resign and just simply move onto other teams. This the same kind of behavior that got mike brown in trouble with the fans in the 80s and 90s and now the behavior is back. You can cut a player before due process and then take him back at a whim and thereby insult the intelligence of the fans in doing so. What a joke.

Marvin officially knows how Bruce Coslet felt when Mike vetoed the Ricky Williams trade so he could draft Akili Smith. Here’s my prediction: Marvin will be Bill Cowher’s defensive coordinator when he comes back next season.

In follow-up, I suppose that the move means that either Chad’s injury is more serious than stated or there is something wrong with TJ. Or…..could the team be looking to move TJ or Chad.

Wait and see. Marvin throwing Mike under the bus for re-signing C.H. is an indicator of things to come. It’s called career damage control and Marvin knows the drill. If the team implodes (especially if C.H. screws up again with some of his teammates in tow) the Mike/Marvin relationship will end in an UGLY divorce.

I have to disagree with your assumption Henry won’y play. Chad is hurt and TJ is hurt even if both are ready for the opener there are no gaurantees that either won’t have a setback. The new guys are to green so the possability of Henry playing are very good.

OJ Simpson was acquitted in a court of law also, that doesn’t mean he’s an innocent man. Ray Lewis is, was and will always be a thug, he’s just fortunate to be professional football playing thug. I love to watch Chris henry play, but when there’s a detriment to the team as a whole I say take your lumps, cut him and get those high drafted rookies in there and see what they can do. Does anybody else think that this says something about how serious Chad’s shoulder injury is?

I agree with who cares and why care? The bengals are losers, always been losers and will always be losers while owned by the Brown family. Fans should expect little from them and then they’ll never be disappointed. if football fans want to see winners go to Indy!

If Mike Brown wants to do something positive for the city of Cincinnati he should sell the team. If he wants to do something positive for the team then he should trade Chad & Henry to the Cardinals for the disgruntled Boldin. The change might be good for everyone.

What a JOKE. How many people would get “another chance” at their jobs if they had been arrested for possession of marijuana, carrying a concealed weapon, giving alcohol to three underage girls and assault against a college student?? Mike Brown is a joke. At his press conference just last April, Brown said, “Henry has forfeited his opportunity with a career with the Bengals. His behavior will no longer be tolerated.” Four months later he’s back on the team. Of all the available receivers in the league, this is who he brings back?? Lovely. Just lovely.

I have been a Bengals fan since 1968. I have hung in there for all the ups and the many downs. No more. The re-signing of Henry is the last straw. This confirms what an idiot Mike Brown is, and what little control Marvin had over this bunch is now gone. I’m done.

With the NFL cracking town on fan behavior at tailgating parties, one would think that the Bengals would follow the lead and not resign someone with Henry’s track record. I am sure he will be arrested again before the 4 games are up.

Hell, I’m glad we resigned Henry. Morally I do think it is wrong, but he’s a proven playmaker. I can’t turn down one more crack at the brass ring. I’m not going to argue with anyone on whether or nor CH “deserves” to be on the team. Personally I think he should be out of the NFL even without the last arrest. With that said, I think the ol’ chickster is off his rocker. I actually believe that CH will have a MONSTER season this year. He reminds me of a former NFL player that is considered one of the greatest WR of all time. That player had a stellar college career and shaky first few years in the NFL due to a bad drug problem. WHile he never had all the arrests that CH has had, his character was very similar. Today, that player is widely praised for his character. That player is Cris Carter.
