Affair lands cheating wife and lover in jail, husband in hospital
A Dayton man tried to convince police that the man sleeping with his wife cut him with a knife and pointed a gun at him, but it appears his wife did the slashing after denying the affair.
Dayton police became involved in this love triangle while on a traffic stop at Ray’s Drive-Thru, 720 Xenia Ave., Saturday evening.
A man approached the officers and said he’d just had a gun pointed at him, according to police reports. Furthermore, he knew the man that did it.
According to police, he’d walked in on his wife having sex with her ex-boyfriend the day before. He said he’d chased the man out of the house with a table leg. He now claimed the same man had aimed a gun at him.
Police searched the area and eventually spotted the suspect in an alley. The man fled around a corner, but then raised his arms and surrendered to police.
The police report states that a neighbor approached police as they questioned the suspect and told them he’d witnessed the man throw a silver and white handgun into a yard just before police arrived.
Police did recover a silver pistol with a white handle from the yard, which the suspect admitted to ditching. He claimed a man he was walking with gave it to him just before police arrived and that it was not loaded. Police did find that there were no bullets in the gun.
The suspect was taken to jail on an outstanding warrant in another incident, but could also face a felony charge of carrying a concealed weapon.
Police tried to talk to the first man again after they caught the accused suspect, but he had fled the scene, apparently back to his house on Xenia Ave.
That’s where police were called just two hours later on a report of a possible stabbing. The man had suffered a large cut to his upper arm and had to be transported to the hospital.
He told police the same man they had in custody for the earlier incident had actually cut him with a knife as he sat in his Honda Civic.
Eventually the victim admitted he was lying. He told police that he had confronted his wife about the affair and they had argued. He said his wife pushed and hit him before picking up a kitchen knife and slicing him on the arm.
Once the wife was located at her mother’s house she told a similar story, only that he’d hit and pushed her and she’d grabbed the knife in defense. She said when she tried to scare him by making a slashing motion, she accidentally cut him.
She was taken into custody and faces a possible felonious assault charge.
