New DeWine AG opponent comes from Tea Party movement

Hardin County attorney Steve Christopher today, Feb. 8, said he is running for the Republican nomination for attorney general against former U.S. Sen. Mike DeWine of Cedarville.

“I feel like the moderates and conservatives need to have a candidate for attorney general who’s not a professional politician and a liberal, which DeWine and Cordray both are,” Christopher, 51, who is part of the Tea Party movement, said by phone.

The incumbent attorney general is Democrat Richard Cordray.

Christopher said he is a township trustee in Hardin County where he lives on a farm near Forest. He has law offices in Kenton and Findlay in Hancock County, where he filed his designation of campaign treasurer form.

“The overriding theme (of the campaign) is that we need a conservative on the ballot, someone who understands the constitution,” said Christopher.

He also is an adjunct professor at Ohio Northern University. DeWine attended law school at Ohio Northern.

Conservatives need to let all legally registered family members and friends know who is running for Ohio gov’t offices and where they stand!! If they don’t support the state and U.S. Constitution, don’t bother running to represent Ohioans!!

Just have to love it when progressives call those who believe the boundaries set for the Federal government by the Constitution should be upheld are “nuts.” The TEA Parties were not any sort of “wing” organization - they were a spontaneous movement of Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, and independents who are fed up with the politics and politicians as usual. Count me in that lot. I, for one, am very glad to see Steve Christopher in this race. He’s no “wing nut” - and this isn’t New York. This is a primary, which did not happen in New York. Contested primaries are a good thing, much better than wired primaries, especially ones wired by the apparently oblivious Ohio Republican Party. They still don’t get it - politicians who play politics as usual are being fired. If you want references, see Virginia, New Jersey, and Massachusetts.

Since when did DeWine become a middle of the road kind of guy. People should read both his bio and the information on the Tea Party group. They only like part of the constitution not all of it.

The more I read about DeWine here, the more I like him! We need more moderates in Ohio. He may just get my vote!

How about let’s judge the character and qualifications of each candidate on their individual merits and not on what party they may be affiliated.

The tea party movement is a racist organization. In Tom Tancredo’s opening convention remarks, (which were meant with thunderous applause) , he suggested returning to literacy tests to determine voting rights. This was overtly and clearly racist. Bornready, YOU are the ones who are being used as pawns, in a movement that is angry and misguided. To top it off, Sarah Palin, the quitter and self absorbed book promoter, had to have crib notes written on her hand for an interview, because she couldn’t remember three things. Anyone who thinks Palin is Presidential, has lost their minds. No wonder she’s such a fan of the tea Party.

I am part of the TEA PARTY, not a “tea bagger”. My husband, myself, my highschool daughter, my 3rd grade son and my mother all traveled from Ohio to DC last September to protest Obama’s lies and Congress over stepping their bounderies and quite frankly the disrespect the many current politicians have for our Constitution. Nothing about the Tea Party has been manufactured except for the lies from the left. You liberals are just pawns being used right now and you will lose your rights as well as the rest of ours if you don’t wake up!

PROGRESSIVES and CORRUPT POLITITIANS are dismantling it!! WAKE UP BEFORE IT’S “THE NWO “. Dems., Reps., Inds.= TEABAGGERS!

Gee 5% truth, that is more than the tea baggers even come close to, they make it ALL up. This is great, even conservatives are not enough to the far right for the tea baggers, here comes NY23 all over again. Steve Christopher does not have a birth certificate, he was born in France.

The primary needs to yield Seth Morgan for auditor and Steve Christopher for AG. Then Kevin DeWine should leave the GOP and join Bob Bennett as an ACORN community organizer, preferably in Cleveland. Maybe team up with Jim Traficant as they all share similar work ethics.

ATTENTION ROB: Thanks for correcting and spelling of RINO and informing me that DeWine wants a Assault Gun Ban. You are correct that a couple anti-American Leftist police organizations want to grab our guns, too. Most officers support gun rights. Thank you for another reason to inform my friends to vote against that RINO DeWine and support attorney Steve Christopher.

Cox News reporter William Hershey has injected a lot of “hearsay” into this article. More creating the news rather than reporting it. In other words its about 5% truth. I’ll bet his car still has an Obama bumper sticker.

The “Tea Bagger” name came from the group itself. Actually, they, the Tea Baggers, held up signs with that name as part of their protests. If there are “closeted homosexuals”, then, they are part of the group self named “Tea Baggers”. And yes, I have talked to Evangelicals that were dissed by the GOP and are looking for a new cause. Some of these Tea Bagger candidates are actually career politicians, affiliated with the republican party. They, the GOP, are looking to re-brand after the damage incurred by Bush and his crony’s. So yes, they are owned and operated by the GOP.

I do think you’re onto something, mwm - with respect to wedge issue politics. I’d like to see (and I’m sure somebody is working on) the “median” demographics of the Tea Party. I shouldn’t be suprised if a large percentage - perhaps even a majority - of those who self-identify as Tea Partiers aren’t in fact disaffected evangelicals formerly associated with the Republican Party.

“Law and order and stay the heck out of citizens private lives? Isn’t that what the Tea Party claims to promote? ” BINGO! You’ve hit the nail on the head Rob. The Tea Party will not denounce expansion of the government into others’ lives (Patriot Act, Constitutional ban on gay marriage, NSA wiretapping) if it serves their interests. They seem very phony to me.

Look, if you’re going to use a term as a pejorative then get it right. It’s RINO - not RHINO. As in Republican in name only. A Rhino is an African pachyderm. Second, if all you got is Sen. DeWine thinks an assualt weapons ban is a good idea (by the way, a number of law enforcement agencies agree with the ban, and the AG is a what? Wait - a law enforcer?)and that the government has no business in your bedroom - and those issues make him a leftist? Law and order and stay the heck out of citizens private lives? Isn’t that what the Tea Party claims to promote?

“American Conservative Union” is just another RHINO group acting like they are Conservative Republicans. They should called themselves the “American Conserve & Preserve RHINO’S Union.” 82% for “Can’t we all get along” Republican McCain. 80% for Orrin “Compromise” Hatch. What a joke!!!

Most people do not realise that the United States is on the brink of collapse. Gerald Celente, the CEO of Trends Research Institute, is renowned for his accuracy in predicting future world and economic events. He predicts that by 2012 America will become an undeveloped nation, that there will be a revolution marked by food riots, squatter rebellions, tax revolts and job marches, and that holidays will be more about obtaining food, not gifts

Here’s your Ohio GOP supported ‘republican’ He has an “F” rating from the National Rifle Association and Gun Owners for America. Endorsed by the anti-gun Brady Campaign. He supported a national database of ballistic fingerprints to treat gun owners like presumed criminals. Co-sponsored the so-called “assault weapons” ban. Was only 1 of 2 Republican senators in 2005 to block frivolous lawsuits holding gun manufacturers responsible for the criminal misuse of their products. (The other Senator was liberal Lincoln Chafee from RI, who has since left the Republican Party.) Human Events magazine listed him as one of the top 10 anti-gun Senators. DeWine also supported Ted Kennedy’s minimum wage hike, joined Sherrod Brown in opposing US companies from buying cheap foreign steel, and repeatedly opposed legislation to drill for oil in Alaska. And he was part on the infamous “Gang of 14″, where compromises where made with Democrats and kept brilliant conservative judges like Janice Rogers Brown and Miguel Estrada off of the bench. DeWine joined forces in 2004 with Ohio’s sodomite lobby to oppose Ohio’s marriage amendment which was passed with an overwhelming 62% of the vote. Can you say RHINO?

nodewine, the guy that “leans so far left” has an all-time rating from the American Conservative Union of 80. That puts him right in the middle of the average rating of Republican Senators. If you don’t like DeWine fine, but know what you’re talking about.

Re: JUST THE FACTS The reason Dewine was voted out of his Senate office was because of his “Liberal” RHINO ways. His nomination as AG will guarantee a Republican loss. IS this what the Republican party is coming to? The tea baggers popularity will be short lived and become yet another problem for the GOP just like the “religious right”. Its time for moderate real Republicans to stand up and take there party back before its too late. This division of the party will be the end of the party.

The tea party movement is a joke, it’s a group of angry uninformed people. I’ve worked in politics for twenty years and in american politics they’re no independents, so the tea bagers just need to pick a party. This movement will fizzle out by years end.
