NY Auditons - Grease, You’re the One That I Want
This week (JAN 14) on Grease, You’re the One That I Want, contestants were put to the test all vying for a place to be Sandy or Danny.
The more interesting aspects of this show is watching who’s willing to put themselves out there to compete for a spot on Broadway show - everyone from a 42-year-old mother of four from Brooklyn to a 20 something high school jock who had a secret passion for musical theater. This guy’s passion for the role of Danny went so far that he drove a 1950s car and dressed the part, even before the show started.
While I’m sure many had their dream shattered being passed over to participate Grease Academy, the real drama revolved around sweethearts Matt and Sarah. Backstage the two agreed to support one other regardless of what happened - you can guess what happened - one was chosen and one wasn’t. So, Matt was left to celebrate all alone as Sarah stormed off the stage. Obviously, he wasn’t the one she wanted.
With all the new reality TV shows hitting the airwaves at the same time, I’ve enlisted my niece to help me keep up with this show. As budding dancer, I thought it might be fun to have her watch and see first hand the trials and tribulations of auditions and get her thoughts on the show and the process.
So, this week (JAN 21), as the contestants head off to Grease Academy where we will watch and see all the drama as the field of Dannys and Sandys want-to-bees narrows.
This show air Sunday nights at 8:00p.m. on NBC
