Dancing with the Stars - Semifinal Update
Unless something dramatic happens in these last two weeks of dancing, Brooke Burke is likely to be the next Mirror Ball trophy winner. In my mind, this is her competition to loose.
Tonight’s competition -
Brooke Burke & Derek Hough
First Dance - The Jive These two really know how to heat up the ballroom! It’s just too bad the performance was so bad.
Judges Comments -
Len Goodman - 7 - That was a disaster. It was one of those nights.
Bruno Tonioli - 7 - You went the wow - the problem is how. I am totally shocked.
Carrie Ann Inaba - 7 - The fact you went for blatant illegal lifts. I found that a bit disrespectful.
Total Score 21 out of 30 - Ouch
Second dance of the night - Salsa Perhaps it was just the tassels on Brooke’s pants but that was quite a nice improvement.

Len Goodman -10 - Work to your strengths - don’t worry about other people.
Bruno Tonioli - 9 - Brooke is back.
Carrie Ann Inaba - 9 - …a champion is… is someone who rises above it and comes right back.

Cody Linley & Julianne Hough
First dance of the night - paso doble It’s hard to imagine Julianne had a major surgery just a few weeks ago - Not their best performance - even the audience thinks so… they’re on their feet.

Bruno Tonioli - 7 - That was different.
Carrie Ann Inaba - 8 - For your determination - 10. Total Score 22 out of 30
Second dance of the night - - Salsa Cody seemed to be running out of energy as the dance wound down - it’s a good thing he didn’t drop Julianne

Bruno Tonioli - 8 - You danced this dance like a chicken devil.
Carrie Ann Inaba - 8 - It was a lot of fun.

Warren Sapp & Kym Johnson
First dance of the night - mambo Warren and Kym might be the surprise couple of the season.

Len Goodman - 8 - You epitomize, Go with what you know.
Bruno Tonioli - 8 - You are such a super-size sense of fun… but very engaging.
Carrie Ann Inaba - 8 - You know how to bring the house down.

Second dance of the night - The Jitterbug Warren and Kym are always fun to watch - it would be nice if he could learn a few more steps.

Lance Bass & Lacey Schwimmer
First dance of the night - Mambo Nest dance of the night so far - full of energy and simple on! The crowd agrees giving the two a standing ovation.

Len Goodman -9 - In this competition it isn’t where you start it’s where you finish… and that was the best dance so far.
Bruno Tonioli - 9 - This is semifinal material - way to go.
Carrie Ann Inaba - 10 - Wow - that was a show stopper. Total Score 28 out of 30
Second dance of the night - The Jitterbug Could Lance and Lacey pull this one out? That was a second strong performance - inspite of the fact he lost

Carrie Ann Inaba - 10 - You pitched it perfectly.

One of the best part of tonight’s show was the professional dancers showing us how the dances should look. For us dance novices, it was a much appreciated lesson.
The biggest surprise of the night had to be Lance and Lacey performances - they were on fire. If they could keep that energy and precision up through the finale (assuming they make it though), I’d say they have a pretty good shot at winning the whole thing.
The couple likely to be going home is Cody and Julianne. He’s come a long way this season but it’s likely the couple has dance their last dance. Agree?

Very interesting night. I was thrilled to see Lance and Lacey do so well. I hope they stay in it. One thing that drives me nuts is the judges kept telling Cody, you have to improve your technical skills to stay in it. Then they tell Warren, you have no technical and that’s ok, basically. Just because Warren has a bigger smile and personality, they ignore the same faults in him as Cody has. Oh well. I see Cody going home tonight, and now I’m not sure who the final two will be! Lance gave the competition something to worry about!
