Texas-style steakhouse sets opening date

Texas Roadhouse restaurants has set an opening date of Oct. 13 for its new location at 2600 Col. Glenn Highway, near the Mall at Fairfield Commons and Wright State University.

The Fairborn restaurant will be Texas Roadhouse’s 20th location in Ohio. The Louisville, Ky.-based chain operates 309 restaurants in 44 states, including restaurants in Huber Heights, Springfield and Hamilton. It specializes in hand-cut steaks and ribs, and hires a meat cutter for every restaurant, Texas Roadhouse spokesman Travis Doster said.

The 7,000-square-foot Fairborn restaurant will seat about 240. It is hiring staff, and will have about 150 employees, Doster said.

Texas Roadhouse restaurants are dinner-only during the week and are open for both lunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday.

For more information, call the restaurant at (937) 426-7422.

My family loves Texas Roadhouse! The steaks are seasoned just right but are a little dry. They should add butter to the steak as soon as they take it from the grill to keep it moist. The homemade croutons and unlimited rolss are a giant plus! We have not encountered any parking problems. There are always empty spaces for the other establihments. A+ TRH and COF

Texas Roadhouse is good food? You’ve GOT to be kidding. This is one of the worst chains to sprout up in recent history.

Like many others, I am very concerned about the parking situation in this tiny strip mall. I often have to drive around a few times just to find a spot around 6-7 p.m. I may take my business elsewhere so that I don’t have to deal with the unavoidable traffic congestion that this restaurant will bring to the mall.

Longhorn Steakhouse is my pick for the best steak.

To the Insider: One Eyed Jacks, Bob Evans, Flying Pizza, Smoothies, Subway, the Indian restaurant, the Chinese restaurant, Kinko’s are all open in the evening. The only one closed is First Watch. And this parking lot is already overcrowded in the evening. It will only get worse.

I live in Minneapolis and whenever in Dayton, The Oakwood club is a MUST HAVE STEAK visit. The large cut NY steak is THE BEST anywhere in the country!

Texas Roadhouse is only open for dinner at 4pm. It does not compete with the other restaurants for parking spaces for breakfast and lunch.

I like the Lone Star for steak (when I can afford it). The Texas Roadhouse music is to loud and costs to much. Golden Corral is great for families, food is good and these prices we can afford.

As others have said, parking is already horrible in this strip mall. And the owners are going to charge the other restaurant owners in the mall to revamp the parking so the new restaurant can compete with them. Stupid!

If you are looking for the very best steak, then it has to be Pine Club. Not many do it bettter, anywhere. Not sure I would say it is the best overall restaurant, but hands down the best steak.

Shawn is an idiot. This forum is not for Greene bashing. I guess he thinks FunnyBone and Books and Co. are restaurants because they serve food. There was a time when there weren’t any restaurants OR bars in Beavercreek, Shawn. Otherwise, it beats driving to Springfield to go to a Texas Roadhouse, though they also opened one not too long ago up in Huber. We love their ribs.

Logic and development in the greater Dayton area do not go together. Developers always think it’s best to build a brand new building even when there are plenty of existing parcels to be re-used, and local governments never seem to mind. The result? We get tons of empty buildings.

I always like the “cookie-cutter” steakhouses when they first open, but then when they gain their popularity, their quality of food goes to the crapper. For the best steak for the money I always can depend on Treasure Island….always cooked to my liking, and their house dressing is to die for.

Shawn, You say it’s all restaurants…. Exactly what are you looking for at the Greene? There are more places to shop than places to eat. There is even a comedy club. What kind of store would you shop at if it were at the Greene? Just curious….

I don’t know what the City of Fairborn was thinking when they issued this building permit,oh wait yes I do, more tax dollars $$$$$$$$$$. This establishment has been smashed into one of the smallest plots of land that I have ever seen and two of the four sides of the building our on the street corner. Not much thought went into this site and the parking is going to be a total nightmare. They already have Bob Evan’s, Flying Pizza, First Watch, Oasis Pub, the Indian restaurant and Fed Ex Kinkos fighting for parking space. What’s next the City of Fairborn approves a building permit for a parking garage on this site. They will relize how big of a mistake this has been, when all the other restaurant’s start complianing about loosing buisness becasue of the Texas Roadhouse parking lot nightmare. You know what, I think they could fit a Fricker’s in the middle of the strip mall parking lot. What do you think City of Fairborn?

What the heck were they thinking? I’ve been to Texas Roadhouses in various cities and always enjoy them. However, have you been to this new location? The parking there is awful! There’s already too many businesses on this parcel of real estate and the parking situation is awful. How could they do this?

Texas Roadhouse is a great restaurant to eat at, they have the best rolls, and Logan’s Roadhouse does too, and Texas Roadhouse has great steaks and potato skins, glad that they are opening in Fairborn, because the last one I went to was in Ashland, Kentucky, haven’t been there forever though.
