Letter to the editor
As a teacher and concerned citizen, I am opposed to the “experimental” sequestration of C02 waste beneath Darke County. This could seriously harm our health, safety and water supply. We must stop the “experiment” before it’s too late.
Most of Ohio’s earthquakes occur underneath western Ohio, due to fault lines waiting to slip and slide during seismic tremors. Drilling through our freshwater and saltwater aquifers could cause a catastrophe that could contaminate our water and soil. We are fortunate to have two water aquifers beneath Greenville, and we must protect this precious source.
Ohio is predicted to experience water shortages during the next five years. Citizen action is essential to protect our community from becoming an enormous “experimental CO2 waste disposal site.”
Writing letters to your legislators explaining these concerns will be greatly appreciated.
