President Barack Obama’s approval rating has dropped; the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan continue; our economy isn’t recovering as quickly as we would like. Health care still has a long way to go. Our current administration inherited the wars, the economy and, to a degree, health care.
We are pulling out of Iraq. The president told us that he would hunt Osama bin Laden down, as evidenced by his decision to increase troop levels in Afghanistan, which, in my opinion, is where we should have been focused on instead of Iraq. Our former president made that decision.
Again, Obama inherited our economic nightmare, which was eight years in the making. Are there enough jobs to go around? Were there ever? Our president has been in office less than a year, yet he is expected to be “The Miracle Worker” on this issue as well. Health care has always been an issue, and will probably continue to be.
Democrats and Republicans alike need to set aside their petty differences and quit all the sniping and find what is the same in all of us. We all want our troops out of Iraq. None of us wants to be in Afghanistan, but the situation has deteriorated to the point that we have no choice but to be there.
A year is a short period of time to effect major changes in a system that was allowed to deteriorate to the level that it did. God bless our troops and God bless our president.
