Re “3 local hospitals over state MRSA average,” July 27: While MRSA is an issue, I think the Dayton Daily News needs to be careful here. MSRA is everywhere — from gyms to locker rooms. It’s also at hospitals because, well, that’s where sick people are.

Why is this news? MRSA has been an ongoing problem in hospitals for over a decade. There is some speculation that the overuse of antibacterial soaps and medications has spawned this new breed of super staph. While common sense and good hand washing can do much toward prevention, this nasty bug is a problem all hospitals face.
