Wright brothers’ story still inspires

Re “W.Va. spruce framed Wright brothers feats,” Oct. 15: Because a letter has recently been discovered indicating that the Wright brothers were buying wood for their 1904 and 1905 Wright Flyers from a lumber company in West Virginia, state officials are considering displaying the letter at the West Virginia State Museum.

So compelling is the story of the Wright brothers nationally and internationally that a single letter becomes a part of one state’s blossoming association with their legacy.

We in the Miami Valley would do well to take this as a reminder of just how resonant the story of the Wright brothers is, and know that our coffers, from the National Park Service sites at West Third Street and Huffman Prairie, to Dayton History at Carillon Park, to the Wright State Archives, to Hawthorn Hill are all overflowing with the rich documentation of the Wright brothers’ genius.
