In this July 2, 2012 photo, veteran Steve Hardenbergh pets Nanook at Dave's Doggie Den in Rockford, Ill. Hardenbergh served in the Navy and has post traumatic stress syndrome. He is a mentor in the Rockton-based Circle of Change dogs-helping-veterans-get-better program. He worked through some of his issues by training abused and neglected dogs in the program.
